RADIO STATION KNOCKED OUT BY EMP

On July 7, 2001, at about 10:00 a.m., radio station WJKM in Hartsville, Tennessee, was knocked off the air by a very powerful blast of unknown energy. The weather was clear-no storms were in the area and there was not a cloud in the sky. All the station’s telephone lines were knocked out, several transformers for four blocks had exploded, and all the computers in the station lost their mother cards and main frame. When the employees at the station went outside to try and find some explanation, they found scores of dead birds that seemed to have been burnt. Their wings, tails, and feet were roasted. The editor of a local newspaper next door to the radio station said that she was sitting with her back to the window when she heard a loud roaring sound, and then there was a flash of light that was so bright it went through the entire building.

The power company and BellSouth were at a loss for an explanation as to what caused the power overload. That same evening, numerous residents in Hartsville and the surrounding towns reported strange globes of lights in the sky performing “erratic” maneuvers. Some residents feel that the government was doing some type of experiment in the old Hartsville nuclear plant, since many have seen black helicopters and C130 transport aircraft land somewhere in the closed facility.

In the days to follow, listeners to the station called in about hearing strange humming sounds and feeling like insects were crawling up and down their skin and the hair standing up on the back of their necks. One person claimed that while holding a fluorescent light bulb in his hand, it lit up. This can only happen when the bulb is exposed to an electromagnetic pulse. In my laboratory at the school where I teach, I perform this experiment by turning on a small tesla coil. This instrument generates a high-frequency, low-energy electromagnetic pulse and wave. If you bring the fluorescent bulb within a certain distance of the coil, the bulb will light as if plugged in to an electric socket….
